WSIS C2 Action Line Facilitation Meeting
19 May 2008, ITU, Geneva, Switzerland

Note on the Facilitation Process
Revised 18 May 2008
Joint contribution

WORKING METHODS : an exploratory suggestion

  • For the coherence to the overall WSIS implementation process
  • It is kindly suggested to adopt working methods that would be similar to those adopted for the actions lines facilitated by UNESCO
  • eg WSIS Action line C3 : : Working Methods of the Multi-stakeholders Team formalized by Terms of Reference
  • Themes are identified within the action lines, and for each theme, a moderator, and possibly a co-moderator are designated.

WORKING METHODS : an exploratory suggestion

  • A good example is Action Line C8 Cultural diversity and identity, linguistic diversity and local content where the multi-stakeholder nature is exemplary since along side Civil Society organizations including Academia, there are two governmental entities.
  • Moderators are helping the Facilator to achieve an inclusive community-building.
  • Conversely, being designated by the Facilitator, Moderators have the visibility to achieve their missions.
  • Governmental, Business, and Civil Society entities are all welcome to become a moderator or co-moderator.
